The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and Copernicus Publications agree on a central billing of article processing charges
18 December 2019
The Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, CSIC) will now provide a publication fund for their corresponding authors publishing in Copernicus' open-access journals.
Authors submitting their manuscript after 1 January 2020 to one of the open-access journals published by Copernicus Publications have the chance that their article will be funded by the prepayment. The allocation of the budget is arranged on a first-come, first-served basis. The basic requirements are that the corresponding author is affiliated to the CSIC and that the budget from CSIC is not exhausted. If no funds are available at the time of publication, Copernicus Publications will charge the authors for the article processing charges.
"We are pleased to have signed this agreement with the Spanish National Research Council. It is our first agreement with a Spanish institution and follows other international universities like Iowa State University, Helsinki University, TU Delft, Stockholm University, ETH Zurich, and several German research centres and universities," says Copernicus Publications' Managing Director Martin Rasmussen.
